The library sale lottery. I’d never heard of this book or of the author. I grabbed it in passing, based on a split-second look and on the fact that there’s praise from Carmen Maria Machado on the back. Finally fished it up from my TBR pile and a chapter in, I think I'm going to like it so much that I will toot less.


Hardback novel The Comedown by Rebekah Frumkin, propped up against a window, some trees seen outside. There's a bookmark sticking out, still near the beginning. It has a cover that I love but I imagine you could just as easily hate it – the title and author name, and (gnash) the words 'A Novel', in funky 70s style type with the words repeated in a rainbow of different colours. When I look at it, the words that jump into my mind are ‘psychedelic’ and ‘groovy’.

The cover is the title and author name in funky groovy 70s-style type with the words repeated in dripping psychedelic rainbows of bright primary colours. My bookmark is sticking out. It is yellow. It matches the yellow spine. Which I will pretend was an accident, and not because I spent ages trying on different bookmarks to make sure I picked the right outfit for this book.

@sierrakim Oh that's interesting! I found it in a library sale pile. Have been wondering how it could be that I've never seen anyone mention it. Glad I am not the only one who's reading it!
