Yet again, writing Alt Text has made me look closer at the things I see. We’ve been falling over elephants all over the city for weeks with a vague notion that it had something to do with some art trail. I only looked it up when I needed to write an image description.
Now I know it’s a 'Find Elefanten' trail with 30 sculptures representing "the elephant in the room’, mental health.”
They'll be auctioned to raise funds for the Psychiatric Foundation. Good to know. Thanks, #AltText.
@CiaraNi what a lovely idea.
@pms Agreed. It is indeed.
There's a QR code and the name of a trail's app on each pedestal, but I was never bothered fiddling about on my phone when I passed one and had no interest in yet another app ("Make Analogue Information Plaques Great Again!", say I). So until now, I didn't know what they were about. It's a great initiative about an under-promoted need.
An artist friend of ours did a cow for the DanaFarber Cancer Institute in Boston.
The elephants are a great idea!
@Sfwmson That is so lovely. Both the idea and the cheerful colourful cow. Thanks for sharing. (I happen to know a little from afar about the Dana Farber Institute because of someone they cared for - they do good work).
Thanks for the AltText too - am delighted to learn that the sculpture was named Udder Transformation
@amiserabilist Haha, though I'll give you that Denmark is not the elephant's natural habitat. They should've erected 30 statues of herring instead.
