@Pepijn It will be well-deserved, for this neat idea. I have yet to hear anyone in 'real life' talk about the fact that using ChatGPT or other generative AI tools has an environmental cost at all, let alone a high one. I have literally only seen it mentioned online, so anecdotally, I think there's a big need for basic awareness-raising to start with. Everyone is using AI for everything, like it's a magic wand, is my experience so far.

@CiaraNi @Pepijn It would be nice to have the option to do searches NOT powered by AI, or switch off that function on some websites where I have seen it creep in recently.

@CiaraNi@mastodon.green @Pepijn@mastodon.online TBH, I tend not to give the environmental impact of generative AI much thought, because 'it doesn't work' and 'most users don't want it' ought to be compelling arguments against shoe-horning it into seemingly everything.
