Oops, 9 May passed and I forgot Europe day. 🇪🇺

"Europe Day ... celebrates peace and unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historic 'Schuman declaration'.

At a speech in Paris in 1950, Robert Schuman, the then French foreign minister, set out his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe,

which would make war between Europe's nations unthinkable.

... Schuman's proposal is considered to be the beginning of what is now the European Union."


@JohanEmpa That's interesting. I've always had the impression that the Scandinavian countries (inc. Norway, which isn't EU) and Germany (compare 2oth Century history with Schuman's idea) are the most 'Euro minded' of all the European nations. Sort of, less 'what's in it for us' and more 'better for all' :)
