Hi @erbu, welcome to Mastodon
The acronym CAPTCHA means "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart"
I think we may need some kind of semi-automated test to tell computers and humans apart. Something that is more flexible than a captcha and has a human element to it.
Is that a SATCHA?

"Not sure if legit user, seo bot or vote ring"
Starting to see some interesting behaviour on https://pixelfed.social where spammers try to evade detection in creative ways or unusually high interactions on specific new accounts.
I've been able to keep most of it at bay but our admin and moderation tools will need more work to keep up.
Since we don't have analytics or detailed logs, it's challenging to be able to recognize these patterns. Will need to rethink our approach, feedback welcome!
Experimenting with "approval required for signup" to prevent spammers from entering mastodon.green
Spammers sign up and fill their profiles with links. They don't post in the local timeline.
Some suspected bots sign up every day.
I question if it makes sense to have the doors wide open for spammers and bots

New 300 billion Euro plan
Phase out Russian fossil fuel
Fast forward green transition
Today about 25 % of energy stems from renewables
Plan to nearly double that in 2030 (45 %)
In North sea:
4 countries to quadruple renewable offshore wind capacity
Equivalent to 50 million homes powered annually
That's about a quarter of EU homes

Idea to discuss:
The letter o = organisation
Companies must
a) be on ANOTHER server named o.mastodon.green
b) verified
c) paying
So that our local timeline is filled with personal posts and genuine human connections. 🤗 👋 🥳
Companies can quickly flood our local timeline with content that many people find boring or "ads-y" even if it's normal posts from good companies
the idea:
@UserA@mastodon.green only see @Company1@o.mastodon.green (note the o) when UserA actively finds and follows Company1

We can do like this??
TWO regions 😃
eu.mastodon.green 🇪🇺
us.mastodon.green 🇺🇸
▪️ All languages
▪️ Federated
▪️ More countries if funding and moderators are available.
nl.mastodon.green 🇳🇱
es.mastodon.green 🇪🇸
uk.mastodon.green 🇬🇧
Smaller regions could be better?
🇫🇷 🇨🇦 🇩🇪 🇳🇴 🇸🇪 👀 ?
Do you have any thoughts, comments, ideas?
After sniffing some flowers, visiting the communal litterbox, and playing with his bestie Panda Cat, it's time for a well deserved nap.
Geez I wish I was a cat. #catsofmastodon #thebestlife
I'm trying to figure out how to pay for this server in the long term
Every user cost a small amount of money. Somehow there must be a system where more users means more income to cover the costs
That's why I try to limit it to a region and that's also why I try to limit the languages
We have to discuss this. Should it be worldwide or regional? All or some languages? etc.
Until we have agreement on language policy all languages are allowed on this server.
But not all countries=too expensive
