If I ever get around to doing caffenol, I'm planning to experiment with other plants. Caffeic acid is the magic ingredient, and it's higher in some other plants than it is in coffee. It should be fun to play with. Check out the brief Wikipedia article:
It's highest in yerba mate! It's also high in thyme, sage, and spearmint. There are some other fun things on the list, such as red wine and apple sauce!
@Photorat - yes, this was mint from the garden. Highest of all is Cloves. With coffee actually quite low down the list in terms of Caffeic acid content.
