Any algorithmic message scoring & distribution system implemented on the server leads to of communication. There is no ”fair” way to do it, as humans are not stupid and will try to game any system to their advantage.

The late 2010’s showed ample evidence this leads to outsized influence of the vile & cunning on public forums.

@berkes@bitcoinhackers.org I see ActivityPub + the right client-side software as a possible avenue to cutting the ”spooky action at distance” effect of people gaming the algorithm with toxicity, disgust & hate can have, but still not losing the ability to condense feeds into manageable chunks they have time for in their busy schedules.
