@EarthOrgUK You can buy clip on FLIR cameras for about 200 GBP or slightly less at CEX. I’ve found it to be helpful though the gun type IR thermometers can work well and are v cheap.
In my case I noted that the loft hatch was uninsulated - turns out it was 3mm plywood. Adding 50mm PIR solved that issue and I could see the difference in the device.
Now I’ve got to figure out how to insulate the pitched roof in the bay windows!
