Stormy weather meant no mothing last night, so here's a featured for that visited the garden July 2022. This is a CHINESE CHARACTER, a rather common, UK-resident moth. It's USP is to mimic a bird-dropping to protect itself from predators, although I think it resembles a tiny porcelain dainty.

A moth at rest facing to the right, holding its wings vertical above its body like a butterfly might. Very smooth outline of wings gives the moth a rounded appearance but it is distinctly comma-shaped with rounded wing edges tapering down to narrow at its head. Porcelain appearance. Mainly white with hints of blue-grey with a line of more visible blue-grey spots running top to bottom around its wing extremity. The wing edge is slightly fringed in reddish-brown. A small darker brown patch with grey-blue splodges sits between the rounded part of the wing as it tapers down to the moth's head on the concave curve of the comma shape. It is pointing out one slightly feathered antenna, but he whole moth is trying to resemble a bird dropping.

@parvXtl Just a vague simile. There is no specific porcelain dainty. Just a use of imagination to give the moth some added character.
