***** Trump and the return of slavery *****

Trump and his fascist SS are already exploring ways to send native born U.S. citizens to black holes like the El Salvador torture prison. They frame this as "worst of the worst" criminals, but Trump considers anyone who doesn't swear fealty to him to be worse than a serial killer.

Prediction: At some point in the not too distant future, we will start hearing that the Trump regime is exploring ways to establish forms of slavery. It will not be called slavery, but will use the "worst of the worst" framing and invoke some form of indentured servitude for long periods of time (or for the rest of their lives) outside of conventional in-prison work programs.

This will be a massive expansion beyond (for example) traditional chain gangs in the Dixie South where inmates have been rented out to farmers and the like.

This new slavery program won't require conventional convictions in a normal legal setting, and will be framed in terms of filling roles vacated by immigrants rounded up for torture in Trump's camps, whether those are within or outside the U.S. proper.

A return to slavery is at least as high on the fascists' wish list as is eliminating women's right to vote. A step in the latter direction was passed in the House today, by the way, as part of the so-called SAFE voting act.

But slavery is what they really want. Oh they want it so very, very badly.
