@priscillaharing really good short #SolarPunk clip - thanks for sharing! So much in here, #UrsulaLeGuin’s #TheDispossed, Giorgio Kallis, etc etc. And yes, William Morris . Will use it for teaching
One thing i am always struck by as an anthropologist: so much of what we need now already exists outside capitalist modernity- it doesn’t all have to be newly invented. Am wrtiing a paper about this just now in fact! #RegenerativeAnthropology
@pvonhellermannn @priscillaharing Interesting! Are you familiar with the following initiatives?
#WellbeingEconomics https://weall.org/ and https://stories.life #StoriesForLife
#Solarpunk futures are already being turned into reality around the world by creating an economy #InServiceToLife :)
@Greenheart @priscillaharing thank you, I wasn’t, this is great! And yes initiatives like this exist, but in addition we have thousands if years of positive human-nature interactions across the world to draw on, that’s what i meant. I did a thread on this once . Also: different ways of organising society, families, property- so much to learn from our collective past (and present) outside capitalist modernity
@Greenheart @pvonhellermannn @priscillaharing I’ll be interested to see how wellbeing economics connects up with #DoughnutEconomics.
@oneloveoneplanet #DoughnutEconomics is a core part of the #WellbeingEconomics alliance :)
The basic idea is to collaborate as a broader movement to get a bigger impact. In many cases, the various "new economy" movements have a lot more in common than it might seem at first glance.
@Greenheart yes I'm sure they do. I think one of the big problems faced by the climate movement is having too many different groups. I get why it's happening, but I think we need some coalescence now to obviate the need to reinvent the wheel. There's definitely some coalescence happening in the campaigning sector though which is good to see.
@pvonhellermannn awesome yes Our current time & place seems to insist that the capitalist way is the only way but this hasn't and isn't true everywhere. Human connection is much robust in value
@pvonhellermannn hope you will share this paper here when it's done
@priscillaharing will do, definitely!
