Pauline von Hellermann

I haven’t been able to post here much recently and just wanted to briefly explain.

My is quite central - i am having to prioritise work and job hunt all the time, and it’s knocked my confidence, of course.

But I am also. just completely floored by the state of everything. It feels like this last year we have slipped into dystopia more quickly and further than I thought was possible before: genocide, war normalised, climate collapse in full swing, 1/2

2/2 collapse of higher education and more, private equity eating everything, AI so bad already, and of course fascism, climate delayism, conspiracy theories everywhere. It all feels so incredibly dark (and yes, I too have little moments of hope and joy, all the time - apples! Harvest, Children. And normality too - everything around me is just normal). I am not depressed - I just feel there is nothing left to say about anything. That is why.

Might all change again, possibly even tomorrow!

@pvonhellermannn
I'm glad that in the midst of all the things you mention you have been able to take some comfort from the joyous things in life. For me yesterday it was the sight of the moon in the morning, pale against a blue sky and low on the horizon and the unselfconscious joy of little children skipping happily alongside a parent. I value your posts and hope you will continue to keep your head above the rising waters.

@tompearce49 ❤️🙏🏼 for this lovely message, I really value it. I too have been appreciating the moon lately - just last night we walked through the park and even the children talked about how beautiful it was. That you and others are doing so too also cheers and comforts me - I feel there is a growing collective moon appreciation. I have learnt so much about the moon from @RadicalAnthro - and I think of you every time I see it, so quite a lot, Camilla, which is very nice in itself! 😊🌕🌒

@pvonhellermannn I know the feeling well. This account gives a very concise summary of the state of the world @scream
Wishing you the very best Pauline.

@scream @jhaue

😄 yes, it does! And yes, I know i am not the only one, we all feel this, or at least very many of us

@pvonhellermannn I feel this too, the flooding in Bedfordshire brought it literally to our doorstep. The Labour government is doubling down on collapse, privatise health, make pensioners poorer. Cram the countryside with data centres and executive homes built for a 2010 climate because ‘growth’.

@pvonhellermannn
It's grim but I suppose we have to keep trying.

@pvonhellermannn
I'm so sorry to hear about your job, hope you find something very soon.
Take heart from the good things and people in the world x

@pvonhellermannn nice to hear from you and to know that despite everything, there is still some beauty to be found in little mundane things. I was writing some lines on my activism experience yesterday and you just came to my mind. Get back when you feel like it, we’re always here ready to welcome you back with open arms :)

@pvonhellermannn That is a lot to deal with and think about. Sending you good thoughts. And a bunch of flowers that a neighbour grows outside their front door and that cheer passers-by up for a minute, even on Mondays and wet days and tricky days.
