@sheislaurence @breadandcircuses also *lot* of plastics are consumed because society is so dysfunctional and divided, that they are required to seal products to prevent against deliberate contamination, stop items being nicked from multipacks, to make packaging look distinctive for marketing purposes or to make shoplifting harder (eg branded single use plastic carrier bags)
