I was at the #Albuquerque #NM #handsoff rally on Saturday. The local news coverage was totally absent. I am not a crowd counting specialist but the civic center was overflowing in spite of bad weather. Turnout was in the thousands. Lots of good energy and a wide range of age groups and issues were present.

I have no confidence in what the legacy media covers, or in this case, actively chooses not to cover. At this point I think they are a huge distraction and part of the fantasy of America going back to some previous time of “normalcy”. It’s not going to happen. Those of us who are committed to standing up to the trump authoritarians need to realize this. We are on our own and must find new ways to speak truth to power!

SubstackJanette McClelland on SubstackBlog #26. I'm in bed rest. Have been since Tuesday morning. Got sick last Saturday night. Made a mistake to eat meat. Started vomiting a few hours later. Made it into work on Sunday. Ate yogurt and applesauce and soup. Started vomiting again Sunday night and Monday morning. Went to work. Ate my usual yogurt and applesauce before my shift. Was doing my usual duties on the salesfloor when suddenly,I puked. One hour into my shift. Went home. Got into bed. Called 911. Paramedics took me to UNMH. It got worse. Vomited multiple times in the lobby. They ran tests. Everything was “normal”. Even though I was still vomiting and dizzy. They didn't have any available beds,so I was in the lobby for 18 hours. They sent me home at 6 in the morning with a prescription for anti-nausea medication. That was it. I puked in the Lyft. Driver immediately took me back to the ER. They refused to re-admit me. They sent me home in a taxi. They didn't check me for a concussion. The paramedics didn't either. Someone fucked up. It clearly wasn't me. I vomited for two more days. I ate my first solid food today,7 days after I first got sick. Tried to run an errand,but I was still too woozy to walk across the street to wait for the 157 bus. My brother had to go grocery shopping for me. I couldn't go to the other two hospitals because they're out of network. Damn shame. If I had been bleeding or unconscious? I would have gotten a bed at the ER and taken to the main hospital. They fucked up. The paramedics fucked up. Thanks to Trump,stuff like this is not uncommon. And it'll happen even more. Dr. Oz was confirmed today to be Trump's secretary in charge of Medicare and Medicaid. As you may recall,that quack eagerly advocated for eliminating Medicare and Medicaid in favor of privatized medical insurance. As in Medicare Advantage for everyone. Forcing seniors and the poor to go back to work just to afford the premiums and co-pays. They are going to do the same to veterans. Trump plans to cut VA medical services and force veterans into private insurance and private clinics. AKA Veterans Medicare Advantage. And government and military employees who have TriCare? They too will be forced into Advantage insurance. Translation: the shit I went through last Monday at UNMH will continue,but even worse. We won't even DISCUSS all the people who just got laid off as a result of the tariffs. Watched one of the Detroit stations last night. They interviewed workers at the auto factories that have shut down. Many of them eagerly supported Trump in the election. They were STILL supporting him even though they just lost their jobs,and they'll now be driving an Uber and working at the dollar store to make ends meet. How fucking BLIND can they be? I've seen this rodeo before. More than once. Anyway,time to eat. Hopefully I'll be back at work next weekend.

The predictions and news are bad for the Rio Grande Valley and Albuquerque. (Also Las Cruces)

As John Fleck says "We will learn a great deal this year."

=========================================

We are heading into a remarkable year on New Mexico’s Middle Rio Grande. Here are some critical factors:

1. The preliminary April 1 forecast from the NRCS is for 27 percent of median April – July runoff at Otowi, the key measurement gage for New Mexico’s Middle Rio Grande.

2. Current reservoir storage above us is basically nothing.

3. Reclamation’s most recent forecast model runs suggest flow through Albuquerque peaked in February. It usually peaks in May.
