#DigitalHumanities hive mind: Has anyone written about the tension b/w “Here’s a whole book about the emergence and evolution of X as a category” and “Yay, let's build a controlled vocabulary/thesaurus/ontology where X is now once and forever a subclass of Y!”? Can't wrap my head around this split in the digital humanists mind.

#digitalhumanities #geschiedenis #erfgoed

💥 Another new piece from me. It drives me up the wall that those seeking to tear down humanities programs use arguments that fundamentally contradict each other. I call BS, and argue that the inconsistency reveals a pervasive fear of critical thought and social change. In @insidehighered

'... [Carolee] Schneemann was a life-long documentor and kept diaries and scrapbooks dating back as early as 1951, now all part of Stanford University’s archives. Following the five year embargo period on their use, the first thirty-six volumes in this collection (1951–78) are now fully digitized and available to view online, providing an invaluable free and easily accessible look at her thinking and creative process.'

'On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the National Theatre, all of the National Theatre's theater programs from its inception will be made available on timarit.is and the National Theatre's website. The National and University Library of Iceland and the National Theatre recently signed a collaboration agreement on the project. '
