Honest question: I’ve had a couple people now express concerns over me boosting/quoting FlipBoard links. What’s the deal? Is FlipBoard evil in some way that I’m not aware?

AFAICT FlipBoard is a commercial entity that’s attempting to make money acting as a news/content aggregator by offering different media orgs a way to have an ‘official’ presence on the Fedi without having to spin up or support their own instance.

I for one appreciate this service as it gives me access to a wide range of news sources that I can trust as legit, and I’m assuming that FlipBoard’s clients receive data as far as post reach, views etc. which might encourage them to eventually set up their own presence here.

What’s the downside? Is it simply because FlipBoard is a commercial entity or is there something else?
