My favorite #Mastodon feed? The Local feed of my instance, indieweb.social

Why? Because with about ~1300 monthly active users, and ~10 posts/hour, or less, it is actually possible to check *everything* that was posted today in a reasonable time!

And, I automatically have something in common with everyone here; the instance's focus: #openweb, #indieweb, #fediverse & #humanetech

It feels like the good old days of being a regular on a bulletin board forum around a topic I really enjoy.

I've been following the co-founders of the Center for #HumaneTech since #CambridgeAnalytica, and here they are in a recent episode of JRE informing me of things I didn't know before about #AI, #AGI, consciousness, slavery, nukes, Game Theory, and the Middle East.

I understand Joe Rogan may be seen as controversial, but give this a chance. Unless you're able and willing to listen to it all, I think a good place to start is 1:16:44.

Fourth, as if it wasn't enough that nothing is said about who's behind the initiative, they seem to have no #Fediverse presence. And yes, this is important: especially when combined with the restrictive terms of use of the badges, it's an indication of a substantial lack of interest (at best) or antagonism (at worst) towards #freeCulture and #humaneTech, which given the alleged mission behind the badge, is a significant failure.

The distraction blocker Freedom (www.freedom.to / App Store) can now block iOS apps. If you find yourself pulled into a certain app or website more than you want to be, you can block it for however long you wish. You can also set up a recurring schedule, so that YouTube is blocked during work hours, for example.

I've used it over the years to help get work done. Attention is precious water and your phone is a sieve!
