@mediapart

Welcome to my page, where you’ll find some posts related to #justice work and my #Quaker faith, images of some of my #watercolor paintings, and photos of #birds

I appreciate meaningful interaction in addition to emoticon responses; and I tend not to accept requests from folks who don’t post much or don’t interact much.

Relationships matter to me so if there’s an opportunity to meet up IRL, let’s see if we can make it happen

@hacks4pancakes It is very important that the names of those who do and did the right thing are listed. There will come a day of reckoning for those who moved against them and both the good and the bad need to know that day will come. The good because they need to know they are supported and the bad because they need to know we are keeping watch, and they will answer for their actions. This applies everywhere in the World. #Mastodon #Fediverse #Karma #Justice

The thing is #Nuremberg was due process with defense lawyers. The evidence was just so overwhelming that a guilty verdict was all but guaranteed.
And you can hold a person pretrial if they represent a danger to society or have a habit of obstructing justice, you can even hold them incommunicado with an assigned defense lawyer if the communication with the outside via defense lawyer presents a problem for due process.

Pretrial confinement is not a threat to fair #justice...

A fascinating (and scary) read about what happens when the US courts can no longer trust that government officials act lawfully and in good faith, a core tenant of how they've operated up until now.

What if judges no longer believe that "the government’s stated reasons for its actions are its true reasons and that its factual representations to the court are accurate"?
