We had unseasonably warm weather here in Forest of Dean (FoD) last week and it's nice and mild today. It rained last night properly for the first time in a while. Things are waking up and there's enough in the garden to keep us ticking over. The greenhouses are packed with salad greens, many self-seeded from last year. So we have salad greens just about every day. Seedlings are coming along well too.
The bees are quiet today but they had a great year and done well over the winter WITHOUT any help from chemicals or sugar feed. I don't treat them or feed them.
Last year they swarmed!
The willow hedge we put in for a windbreak did it's job over the winter, protecting the greenhouses.
This year, I'm back at it (after donating a kidney last year which knocked my growing schedule last year).
Last year was so awful for so many growers with the cold summer and record breaking rain and flooding. Here's hoping this year is a bit drier!
