What a date! 😂

...and more preparations... I finally called the hospital to inform about my upcoming surgery and they had the best date for me! I guess many people were/are superstitious and they don't want it... So when she offered it to me, I just laughed a lot and took it gladly... You probably can guess the day they offered me... Yes! Friday the 13th (of June). Well, it's  little later than I hoped (as the surgeon had mentioned eind of May, early June), bit hopefully I can recover well enough and still make it for the holidays... But yeah... Now, the countdown really begins! […]

@ckent @nickzoic @jessta That 3–5 storey range is a good happy medium. Especially if there's shops or cafés on the ground floor.

Having looked at apartments lately, it's amazing the difference that bigger room sizes, a wider living room, and a larger balcony can make.

I think there's also an underserved need for more 3 to 4 bedroom apartments.

And in terms of housing affordability, 4 bedrooms might make housing more affordable for people.

How?

Because many people — especially younger people — share an apartment.

So even if the apartment costs $1000 per week, if it's shared between four housemates, that works out to just $250 each per week.

Yesterday the government published the draft National Planning Framework. The section on Galway City is full of sensible plans for compact urban development and sustainable transport.

The Galway City Ring Road looks like an anomaly stuck in there near the end, almost like it was added in at the insistence of politicians rather than something the planners view as essential.

So THIS just happened...

Something for my collection of "words I never thought I'd see assembled in this order": "Environmental planning analysis: Using Feng shui to inform the redevelopment of the #Christchurch eastern red zone".

When GDP growth is the aim, anything can be justified. The blinkered #OBR cheers on the absolutely unnecessary destruction of green spaces.

A suburb of Phoenix is not where one might expect to see a residential development based on emancipation from the dominion of the car.

Reducing car dependency in Arizona matters beyond the borders of the state. All too often those working for more human and environmentally sound planning and transit policies in the USA are met with a simplistic and thought stopping cry of "It might work in Europe, but our geography makes it impossible!"

Dire statements from the #OBR head this morning.
Said #housebuilding stagnation is due to #planning restrictions and we should build on #GreenBelt.
No mention of the 1 million plus unbuilt homes for which developers have permission.
Swallowed #DeveloperLobby propaganda.
