Eligible Flagships for One UI 8

Recently, there has been a lot of talk about One UI 8 as leaks started to surface, including the one where SamMobile has highlighted some of the One UI 8 changes, such as the refined gallery menu and the refined My Files landing page, while maintaining the One UI 7 aesthetics. One UI 8 is said to come with the Galaxy Fold/Flip 7 series as the first devices that will get it.

As we’re already waiting for One UI 7 to actually restart its rollout, One UI 8 will be a minor incremental release on top of One UI 7 that will bring improvements to existing features, as well as bringing back Galaxy S25’s Now Brief (Daily Brief) and Log Video to the older flagships.

Although this list is based on Samsung’s refreshed update policy, the following flagships will be able to experience the One UI 8 update by the second half of this year:

    • Galaxy S22 / S22+ / S22 Ultra
    • Galaxy S23 / S23+ / S23 Ultra
    • Galaxy S24 / S24+ / S24 Ultra

Devices like the Galaxy S22, the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip4, and the Galaxy Tab S8 will no longer receive any major OS update after the release of One UI 8.

Please note that the list above is not official, and can change as soon as the official rollout of One UI 8 starts.

April 22nd release of the Galaxy S23 One UI 7 update taken down

Earlier, Telus updated the list of devices to get the One UI 7.0 update so that the Galaxy S23 series would get the update on April 22nd, 5 days from now. Now, they have cleaned up the list by removing the following entries:

  • Galaxy S23 series: April 22nd
  • Galaxy S24 series: April 11th
  • Galaxy Z Fold/Flip6: April 11th

We have already warned that Telus’ update schedule is for Canadian users and that the dates are approximate and can change. Now, those dates will be changed amid the One UI 7.0 rollout delay.

This is likely related to how Samsung had delayed the One UI 7.0 update because of a serious issue surrounding the unlock bug where users could get stuck on the lock screen in some situations, such as the Enter key in the SwiftKey Keyboard not being accessible. This is disappointing because users were very eager to get the One UI 7 update on their devices.

We are still hopeful that this month will be the start of the One UI 7 rollout after the revised firmware has been finalized. As soon as Telus updates the software update schedule, we’ll let you know.

Samsung refreshes One UI 7 for the Galaxy S25

Starting from today, the refreshed version of One UI 7 is now live in Korea for the Galaxy S25 to bring new features, such as the new media player in the notification panel. You can identify the update with build AYD9.

The official changelogs have been placed here: (machine translated from Korean, will update once global rollout starts)

  • Apply stabilization code
    • Stabilization codes related to charging, camera, and terminal operation have been applied.
  • Apply security code
    • Security-related stabilization code has been applied

To obtain the update, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Navigate to Software update
  3. Tap on Download and Install
  4. You should be able to see the update information. Verify the version with your device model posted above.
  5. Click on Download, let it download, and click on Install. Make sure that you download the update through Wi-Fi.

This security update should take 5 to 10 minutes maximum to install. Make sure that you have the phone charged fully before initiating the update process to avoid interruptions. Back up your data to your PC, the cloud, or any other device in case the update went wrong. Don’t interrupt the update process, or you’ll experience problems later. To mitigate green line issues caused by heat, do the update on a well-ventilated room.
