#BikeStreak Day 77:
Today's ride did not go according to plan. I was riding my gravel bike with the puncture resistant tires, but picked up a nasty glass shard and did too many revolutions before realizing what was happening. By then it had dug in deep enough to puncture the inner tube. I turned around and rode as far as I could before the tire went too flat. At that point I was 3 miles from home. Do I fix it in the cold wind, or walk home and fix it there? I chose the latter.

#BikeStreak Day 76:
It's the morning after the storm and I was compelled to ride my #FatBike with studded tires on my way to have coffee with the hockey guys for 12 miles. On the way there, it was very icy and rutted in spots as the wet slushy snow froze hard overnight. The return trip was mostly dry or slushy as the sun and warmth was rapidly melting the snow and ice. I am hoping today was the last of the studded tires for the season. But it was pretty riding through the woods.

#BikeStreak Day 75:
I awoke early and saw on the radar the snow was about to start. As I had a couple essential items needed, I decided to dress quickly and jump on my #ebike to go to the grocery store before dawn and snow, for 6 miles. With the cloud cover it was still mostly dark. The wind was strong out of the Northeast and the temperature was falling. I guess our chance of more rain than snow is diminishing. It might be an interesting day given the blizzard warning.

#BikeStreak Day 74:
Calm before the storm: We are under a winter storm watch for tomorrow with up to 12 inches of snow and high winds/blizzard conditions possible. But it was a nice spring-like day with temperatures rising into the 50'sF and decreasing clouds, so I took my road #bicycle out for a loop to Elgin MN with an 8 mile stretch on the Great River Ridge State Trail for 43 miles total. By the end of the ride, the wind was coming strongly out of the East; a sign of a storm.

I'm in the Twin Cities for a #mnwild game, so I hauled my #brompton with me and rode the Midtown Greenway, around Lake Harriet, Bde Maka Ska, Cedar Lake, and Mississippi River Parkway for 21 miles. It was a lot less windy than home so that was a good decision, and it was a nice ride. I wore my Ireland bicycle jersey and ran into another cyclist with a similar one and we complimented each other's jersey choice.

Today is cool, just above freezing, and the wind is a little stiff out of the Northwest. But the skies are sunny, so not too bad for mid March. After attending a wake for a friend I played hockey with for over 3 decades (RIP), I took my road #Bicycle out and rode the Chester Woods Trail again. Most of the folks I saw in Chester Woods Park were walking their dogs. I did spot a good number of Eastern Bluebirds in the park, they must have just arrived.

#BikeStreak Day 71:
Back to reality. We had plummeting temperatures and increasing wind, so I went out before it could get worse. I rode my #ebike to Silver Lake and then Cascade Lake to see what our record warmth yesterday did to the lake ice, and the ice is completely gone. But the ride wasn't comfortable, as there was rain, then sleet, then light snow, and by the end my hands and feet were cold.
I think I'll just stay in and watch hockey this afternoon.

#BikeStreak Day 70:
Since I was on the hook to lead a "Howl at the Moon" ride later this evening, I wasn't planning another ride. Then I looked at the forecast, chance of Thunderstorms coinciding with the planned ride. Ride cancellation was very probable. So I quickly went out for a morning ride, 52F (11C) when I started and 65F (18C) when I finished. In March. In Minnesota! I rode the Chester Woods Trail, and despite the warmth there was still snow and ice in the shadiest spot.
