I may have been overdoing it a bit #cycling #BikeTooter #VeloViewer (and no I didn’t start cycling in 2011, that’s when I started logging my rides on Strava).

I probably won’t make it to 8903km if you are eagle eyed you’ll notice the difference an ultra race made in April 2018. I don’t think I’ll ever ride that far in a week again. I’m not riding LEL as it clashes with my daughter’s birthday and holiday to Sweden and have no plans to ride an SR this year (maybe next)!

Been using a bike computer since mid 2012. Pretty much all my rides have been recorded since then. Automatic upload to Ride with GPS. No effort at all.

I was recently inspired by @matthewconroy to
vide code a python script to work out my Eddington number and a few other stats. github.com/alxtrnr/eddington_n

Bit of an outlier given previous replies. Never occurred to me I might not be normal 😜

"Here’s why higher seated trikes are better than lower"

Interesting thing about the market. When I bought my first recumbent in1996, recumbent bikes dominated. Years later, I was surprised to attend Recumbent Cycle-Con in Pomona and find that some manufacturers didn't even bring their bikes to the show, only the trikes. Trikes are much more popular now and even they've changed.

@xtaran Do you happen to know if the cycle manufacturers at Spezi offer discounts/specials during the course of the show?

I have to decide whether I should buy something used now in the US and try to ship it or whether I should wait and order something while at Spezi (or take the chance that something on consignment there would be good). #Recumbent #Trike #BikeTooter

@ascentale @MartyCormack @bikenite A8. I don't like the idea of tearing up habitat just to go mountain biking. I'm fine with off-road on trails already blazed long ago, but I don't like the idea that people tear up what's remaining of the wilderness and contribute to erosion and habitat loss.

Anecdotally, I'm not fond of competitive upright road cycling - I just don't like the attitudes that are usually co-morbid with that. #BikeNite #BikeTooter

A8. I had a 10-speed road bike once with skinny tires and drop handlebars. Then mountain bikes appeared on the scene and since then I have always favored the fatter tires and the more upright stance.

I test-rode an e-bike once that had an "automatic transmission" that somehow figured out how to gear itself while you were pedaling. No inclination to pursue that further. I like shifting I guess.

A7. I let my odometer accumulate, currently at 2450 miles for the e-bike that will be 2 years old this summer. I promised myself and I'm saving up so that I'll have a chance to get a different or another bike at the 5000 miles mark.

The mountain bike with studded tires which is my winter bike doesn't have an odometer, but it's 30+ years old and doesn't need to be measured by miles anymore.

I also track distance with Strava.

A5. As a bicyclist and a car driver, the thing that I have learned the most about is alternate routes through the city that work at 20-25 mph rather than 30-50 mph.

This is things like neighborhoods that you can ride or drive through that aren't designed for thruway speeds but that are very comfortable at a slower pace.

There's also here a small but useful network of bike/pedestrian cut-throughs that change the dimension of the route landscape.

A4. A local roaster (Roos Roast) uses a coffee trike to bring brewed coffee to Ann Arbor Farmers Market. From their pictures it looks like it's one of these by Haley.

It has a very large box between two full sized trike front wheels. Not going to guess if this is too big for your needs but it's a very cool and practical solution for their needs.

A3. No plans to change my bicycle riding habits, if anything I might be biking more rather than less. But it does look prudent to do a bit more in the way of routine preventative maintenance like keeping the bike clean and well kept to reduce the cost of repairs.

My bicycle maintenance budget is also my car repair budget and riding displaces driving. I expect car repairs to get even more expensive.
