Links to sites of wonderful #maps including OS maps (I foresee a break from ebooks) remind me of yesterday's tussle with the car's satnav. Among its annoyances is resetting to direction of travel at the top, ensuring that you can't quickly check you're going the right way. I need m'compass points! I suppose the satnav's method works for those who happily follow the directions... even when they lead into a ditch.
But it dulls awareness.
Is it propagating ignorance of orientation?
