A bird from above. The chaffinch sits on top of two deck boards. You can see the grey head with black at the beak quite well, with copper red cheeks and breast. The black and white tail and wing feathers frame the brown back well.

Spent hours in my local patch. Mainly waiting for the kingfishers. They flashed by several times, but were not in the mood to pose. But I can get used to sitting in the woods, in the sun and out of the wind…. Also I did find a cuckoo willing to pose.

A bird I often hear but seldom see is the Cetti’s warbler. Today I managed to see one. Unfortunately the photo is a bit out of focus… but it’s evidence!

Todays waddle was magic. It started slow and bit colder than expected, but then I spotted
My first bluethroat of the season. And this fellow was in a good singing mood, flying around. I sat down and waited, until he popped up in bush behind me singing.
