This #socal #heatwave that is coming by Friday is way too early and as such will be really hard on some plants. Succulents will be fine, but any woody plant with new growth will lose a lot of water to transpiration. Heatwaves aren’t supposed to come until the new growth has barked over to keep water in.

Give thes plants and trees a deep watering NLT Wednesday or Thursday. Like 5 gal each. Enough to sink deep and remain available as surface moisture evaporates. Mulch will help too. When the leaves start wilting it’s already too late. But if they’ve been prewatered they’ll recover.

In March 2025, Central #Asia experienced an unusually intense #heatwave, with temperatures reaching record highs across the region, reaching maxima of 30.8°C #Jalalabad in #Kyrgyzstan, 29.4°C #Namangan, 29.1°C #Fergana, in #Uzbekistan and minimum temperatures of 18.3°C in #Shahdara, making it the hottest March night in Kazakhstan’s history.

"Agriculture contributes 5-24% of GDP for the countries affected by the #heatwave, and up to 50% of the workforce. Extreme heat affects agricultural workers disproportionately, reducing labor capacity, with over 230 million hours lost in #Uzbekistan in 2023. The extreme temperatures this year also coincided with the flowering of key export fruit crops and sowing of spring wheat in #Kazakhstan, which may impact yields. "

"Give Me the Night" is a song recorded by American #jazz and #RAndB musician #GeorgeBenson, released in June 1980 by #WarnerBros as the first single from his 18th studio album of the same title (1980). It was written by #Heatwave's keyboard player #RodTemperton and produced by #QuincyJones. #PattiAustin provides the backing and #scat vocals that are heard throughout, and one of Benson's fellow jazz guitarists, #LeeRitenour, also performs on the track.

@dubh If ure too far for a connection, its physically AND financially more efficient to just produce it

Gov subsidies can be diverted to remote cases for help.

A panel is cheaper than a Km of wiring if I am not wrong. We spend billions on energy subsidies on gas and oil annually.
Just a year of these on solar/wind will be enough

Hard reform does not mean abandon reform

@dubh We'll need to be very selective in whom to get to the local grid and whom to leave off.

People dont "need" to be on a grid anymore. Stand-alone off-grid installations are reliable enough to provide power. Can have a mosque (every house in #Pakistan has access to one) set up production, and all people need to do is connect a wire to it.
