I like the idea of a hippie #jumpingspider
Zebra jumping spider!
This was on a sign in Stanley Park, Vancouver.
Getting into photographic tiny creatures is one of the big reasons I got a macro lens. Turns out it's pretty tricky to do well (especially since I don't have a flash right now), but I thought these shots turned out at least ok!
This afternoon, Juno was on the storm kitchen door, longingly looking outside from the window. He knows it’s still frigid outside. If he really wants to go outside, there’s enough of a gap in one corner between the door and the frame.
I offered a ride (a plastic measuring cup), he hopped on inside, back to the lemon tree in the kitchen where he lives.
Juno was promptly released back into wild—in the seedGrown, now-flowering lemonTree wintering in the kitchen.
Juno was indignant that the other human in the house cupped him in plastic jail…
Seems I've accidentally gained a pet. #JumpingSpider #arachnids #spiders
So the bold jumper makes it's appearance at times in the house. The other day it was in the bathroom sink, fell down the drain.I found a string and got it hoisted out of the water it was floating in. Put in the sunny window sill. It came to life, proceeded to clean itself, or give me a thumbs up. Yesterday it was on the ceiling above me as I woke up. Today it strolled across the counter to where I was sitting and said hello I guess.
The #jumpingspider #Pseudeuophrys #lanigera (#Salticidae, #Araneae) is a #species that, according to Heiko Bellmann: (Der Kosmos Spinnenführer.2016), originally was #native to #southwestEurope, but has #spread in #CentralEurope since the 1950s, where it lives in the area of human #buildings. According to L. J. Ramseyer & R. L. Crawford (2017) it occurs in #NorthAmerica as a #neozoon.
