Hoe meer we over bijen weten, hoe beter we de bij kunnen helpen. Daarom vragen we iedereen om mee te doen aan dit landelijk bijenonderzoek. In Nederland komen bijna 360 bijensoorten voor. Ruim de helft daarvan is bedreigd."

This weekend (10-14 april) is the Dutch National bee count, where citizens are encouraged to count bees, wasps and hoverflies in their garden or neighbourhood. Knowledge of bee population is important because 80% of edible crops and almost 90% of wild plants are pollinated by bees and other insects. In the Netherlands 34 bee species have already disappeared and half of the 360 species are endangered.
