So i got my septum gauged up and repierced... I was the first piercing of the day for the poor piercer. Major shout out to them for keeping calm and getting me through it intact even if there was a little torture involved lol. Also do any other praise based creatures feel so special and bwave when a tattoo artist or piercer tells u u did well???

There's an amazing pair of earrings on etsy that I want, and they're only $23.

However, because they're being shipped from the USA, the shipping cost is $33.

I'm in a quandary, because I would pay $56 for these earrings (not happily, but I probably would..) if I found them here, but I also have a personal rule that I refuse to pay more for shipping an item than the item itself costs.

So, do I eat the rule this time and get the earrings? Or do I stand by the rule and do without?

I'm actually curious... Anybody out there with an #orbitalconch #piercing ? I've got one and I have to wear a labret or small tunnel every night cos I can't sleep in it! I wake up in the morning with awful ear pain!

I've never had any problems with any of my other piercings, including my helix ones - which apparently for many people are nothing but trouble.

I'd be interested to know. I know it's not a common piercing so I'm not expecting much.

Experiences with a septum ring piercing

In mid-November, I decided to finally take the plunge and get my first #piercing. :)
It's a horseshoe-shaped #septum ring (through the nose).

I had heard conflicting opinions on the piercing before I got it. Some said that it was one of the easiest and least complicated piercing options for beginners, but I had also heard of several people going "I don't know why nobody is talking about this, but everyone I know has had severe issues with their septum pie@rcings" and tons more agreeing with them.

So, I wanted to give a quick update: I'm fine!

Getting pierced itself did not hurt much, mainly because it was over incredibly fast. My piercer asked me to take a deep breath and as I was even only focusing on starting to breathe, she slid that needle through my skin professionally and quickly and it was already over.
I was a little disoriented afterward though, so I would advise caution if you're planning to, for example, operate a vehicle right after.

They did not immediately put in the ring I wanted, because for the first four weeks, the wound still had to heal and having a ring to fidget around with and touch constantly would be unwise. Instead, I just had an almost invisible little steel bar in there for four weeks keeping the tunnel open.

I had to disinfect the wound twice a day for those four weeks and then some, which was less cumbersome than one would think. It didn't hurt at all because the disinfectant was not alcohol based.

For the first week or so, because I am (due to a traumatic cannabis trip) vulnerable to mental health issues like #psychosis and #paranoia, I had some issues with feeling like I had to tear out the piercing and some body horror about it being a foreign object stuck in my body. That was a non-severe mental breakdown though, and it all resolved within half an hour or so and never came up again. I have gotten used to the sensation by now and I could just take it out if I wanted to.

I had no problems with scabbing, bleeding, infections or pus at all. None of that ever happened to me personally. Please do yourself a favor and refrain from touching your nose while it's healing, it can hurt a lot if you accidentally hit it while, for example, changing your sleeping position.

Four weeks later (so when I was due for putting in the real deal anyway), one of the balls attached to each side of the little bar accidentally came undone during dinner. I panicked a bit, but my girlfriend drove me to the studio immediately and they put in the ring. :)

Now, I barely feel it anymore ever! It's actually quite satisfying that it exists. I can still clean my nose just fine. I love how it looks and I don't regret any of it.

Came just back from an appointment at our great piercer. @GoldenRetrieverGF got the gauges in her ears up another 2mm, which means we're inching closer to where she wants them - one, maybe 2 sessions more.

For me, the project "nipple piercings" went not as great. What I wanted are plain, flat shields - something not horribly rare back in the 90s and 2000s, but these days, absolutely impossible to find. Our piercer apparently phoned all his suppliers unsuccessfully, and the only photo he could find was a private one - and who knows how old that was. So I guess what I want is out of style.

(But if anyone knows a source... please tell!)

So, backup plan for me. I'll get the piercings widenend to 2mm, and put in black continuous rings in 14mm diameter. But that'll have to wait until February.
Also, 14mm@2mm in black will have to be made specifically for me (at least the anodizing)... guess I have an exclusive taste, although saying that about two plain rings feels... strange. #piercing
