Its not just Spain or #football unfortunately Steve. And yes you're right it's really damaging after a phenomenal #wwc23 celebrating magnificent #sport and athletes.

Believe me when i say that when #Rubiales was kissing those players, and especially #Hermoso , there wouldve been a collective audible UUGGHHH from any woman and decent man around the globe witnessing it.

It looked revolting.
Except Rubiales didn't see the damage he was doing to himself. He's compounded it now by not apologising, by digging in his heels, by putting 'blame' on Hermoso and her colleagues and implying THEY have the problem, not him.

He should back down immediately. It was their work, their skill that got them there, and it was in their workplace.

Good professional women and men (who 'get it' like yourself) don't lip-kiss colleagues like that with their heads in a hand grip.
That's what #toxicmasculinity looks like.

What has come out of the #WWC23 is that there is potentially a LOT of money in #womenssport and "they" alienate us women at their peril.

Women will not look kindly on nasty little man or this sorry episode for SP #football association.

By excluding, demeaning and disrespecting women, commercial enterprises have a LOT of $$$ to lose.

This is a fascinating book on this issue. Looks at how many wasted opportunities there have been bc that type of man doesn't listen to women.

In that moment of that kiss, #rubiales , all of #hermoso 's career, skill, professionalism, expertise was reduced down to her being a female for the taking.
If he can do that publicly on a world stage, what type of behaviour is he capable of behind the scenes?

For all men & boys who saw that, THAT attitude/behaviour is what women need to see ground into the dirt under foot.

It is not men we hate, its THAT behaviour, THAT contempt for women, THAT disdain. WE decide what is acceptable for our bodies, not men like #rubiales.
And we need the good men of the world standing as allies beside us.
