So it turns out, it's possible to get a house fully off fossil fuels, removing an ancient oil tank/boiler system and moving to electric (on 100% renewable energy contract and solar-ready), improving insulation all round the house with all new windows, doors and massive amount of loft insulation... and have your EPC rating get *worse* I get why the numbers come out that way, but also, wtaf.

Wait, how?! I don't know the system, but even having read the criticisms on Wikipedia, that seems odd. Unless this is basically saying "oil is cheaper than electricity", which also seems odd.
@dymaxion I think technically oil is both cheaper and more efficient than electricity, if you don't think about emissions as being relevant

Ah, right, you mean direct electric rather than a heat pump?
@dymaxion yeah, we couldn't get a heat pump for various reasons, so decided to electrify with a view to getting it ready for solar... just can't afford the solar
