Today's court decision on the immoral Rwanda deportation scheme is being widely reported as a victory for the government.
However, as @davidallengreen writes, it's not that simple.
When you're making decisions that will affect the rest of someone's life, it's right that you do so carefully, diligently, and with humanity. The Home Secretary has so far failed that test.
@andybentley The previous HS, who came up with the cruel idea in the first place, has been banging on on Twitter today saying the government must get on with the policy she came up with now. I swear that woman isn't human.
@redballoonsue definitely human, but not all humans are good people, and they don't all make their choices for good reasons. There's always been space in the Tory Party for people who'd be equally at home in UKIP or, back in the day, the National Front.
@andybentley @davidallengreen in the end, the message I take away from it is this:
If you don't want your government to take monstrous actions, don't elect monsters.
@Skeptiguy we need to reform the voting system so it's not such a binary choice and people don't feel they have to vote for the least worst option. I would like to think that Braverman's constituents would have voted in someone less extreme given the choice.
@andybentley completely agree. The single biggest failing of the brief coalition was failure to end disproportional representation.
@andybentley @davidallengreen notice that there isn’t an outpouring of “Righty Lawyers”!
@andybentley @davidallengreen This is really helpful, thanks.
