The power of The Lane:
On the way out: putting the world to rights, maybe a scream or two into the wind.
On the way back: lowered shoulders, lifted spirits, a sense of maybe being able to handle things that little bit better.
Basically, everyone needs A Lane. Can be a literal one, or whatever has the same effect. When I lived in cities: hours in a small bookshop with coffee; spending time in a gallery; dim sum and more dim sum.
