"Oopsie" - the word that means the United States has now tipped into a constitutional crisis

The United States federal government disregards a courts order and jokes about it on social media

@davidallengreen
I'm no expert but to my mind this makes the various Brexit wranglings look like playground banter.

@davidallengreen They’ve started as they mean to go on. Laws are guidelines now for the US Gov.

@davidallengreen Fascinating how narrowly they interpret the extra-territorial reach of US law in this case, compared to many others.

Not even to a (presumably) US-flagged aircraft on a flight originating in the US.

@edavies @davidallengreen Makes you wonder who the flight crew and the guards report to once they are in international space.

@davidallengreen
For this cohort laws, like consequences, are for other people.

@davidallengreen@mastodon.green It is easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission, especially if you don't care whether you need forgiving.

@davidallengreen And now they’re twisting logic to say “we didn’t ignore a court order and if we did ignore it, it had no legal basis”.

> Americans now thereby face a federal government practically free from constitutional checks and balances in the exercise of its brute, coercive force.

now?

Have you been sleeping for the past... umm..... 90 years?

@cjd @davidallengreen The Biden admin also ignored court orders. This is nothing new. The Constitution is broken, we've known this since a few decades after it was written. Desperately needs a redraft.

@cjd @davidallengreen I wrote this post,
>My take on the most effective Trump skepticism is generally: you're right about how bad this all is, but you're accusing the mortician of the murder.
paused on it, decided to see what's new, and it's your post.

Yeah, the constitutional crisis is
1. leftists deliberately fill the judiciary with insane ideologues
2. leftists deliberately encourage insane ideologues to jam up the Executive with lawless orders
3. insane ideologues start making obviously illegitimate orders, sometimes not even attempting to argue them or anticipate any kind of challenge
4. Executive starts ignoring these obviously bad decisions
the constitutional crisis happened several steps before #4.
@davidallengreen these pesky elected officials, how dare they

@davidallengreen "ah, eto... bleh" - the United States Federal Government
