Getting Ukraine to agree to a ceasefire was the easy part.
Making Russia keep it’s promises though, that’s the trick.
@NeonPurpleStar We could be in for a Chamberlain moment coming up with Rubio very soon.
@NeonPurpleStar If we look at the actions not the words, Ukraine now has exactly what it had before:
It wants peace, and US is delivering the aid signed by the previous president.
@NeonPurpleStar A great first step. But ending wars often takes a long time, so positively hoping the next step not being 6 months or years away from now.
@NeonPurpleStar which is extremely important, because Europe’s efforts to stay out of this conflict since 2014 have led to Russia violating every agreement between them and Ukraine so far.
The only solution is that they won’t have the guts to go at it again, and Russia is pretty damn mad.
Ukraine needs to be built up like a steel porcupine, in the words of Ursula van der Layen.
@NeonPurpleStar I’ll believe this over when Putin is dead and Russia is not meddling in Ukrainian politics and sending in little green men.. in 2035.
@NeonPurpleStar If we follow standard Russian operating procedure, there will be massive information warfare, meddling in politics and blaming Ukraine for breaking the ceasefire.
Now that they have MAGA to spread their word for them, they might be feeling pretty confident about that.
