Software Doldrums
by Rek and Devine of Hundred Rabbits.
This talk, which was featured as a keynote at LibrePlanet 2022, is about the dangers and shortcomings of relying on always-online proprietary platforms. Hundred Rabbits will share how they reimagined their software to encourage the reuse, repair and maintenance of existing hardware.

Wrote a 23kb implementation of the Varvara emulator in plain X11(without SDL2). It's lightning fast, I think this might just become my goto #uxn emulator.

just uploaded my tool to let you make an embedable bandcamp-style player for selling music on itch.io (or anywhere you can embed html+js+assets)

Iffy Books is a new little bookstore in philly seeking to share knowledge of hacking, free culture, gardening, zines.
Today I went with my friend to set up a Wemo D1 clone with another non-techie friend and we were able to get this chip to display a website! It was my friend's first time learning html and css, and as a designer it was a lot of fun for her. I enjoyed being able to learn a new board to use with the Arduino other than the circuit playground.
The guide zine is available for free (along with the zines for all the other workshops) if you want to try as well. It's still a work in progress since today's session was also a bit of debugging, but great fun!

You might see that there is actually a use of some work by #varia on there! @rra
Iffy Books will be soon to join Mastodon too (after a little persuasion :) )
I'm also very excited to learn about efforts to implement a mesh network for Philadelphia!
What's the state of #pinephone? Is it suitable as a daily driver? (i.e. can I reliably get texts and phone calls without fuss?)
Wasn't able to work on uxn, but made some changes to my website trying to make it more lightweight, I'll share once I eradicated all google fonts.
As another uni semester starts, I am teing to make Teams usable again on my old laptop, but still failing. I have to resort to using my phone again, but this at least gives me the opportunity to write notes by hand! I feel like having both the phone and the laptop open to be a waste

You can get free vegetable and herb seeds from here.

They say a $10 donation will cover shipping for 16 seeds, but they will still send seeds for free.
I study literature & cultural theory, and dabble in some programming and plant care (seed germination and rooting cuttings especially!). Outside of university, I want to to learn more about C, Uxn and Piet programming and permaculture design.
