There is a goose sitting on a nest on the island in the pond. When I walked up there was a moorhen beside her too. Its a Canada so, sadly, not native but we still enjoy seeing the gosslings and being able to offer them a home. Her partner is keeping watch from a fair distance away amongst the sheep in the field next door.

A pond beneath a hill has a small island in it. The island has a couple of trees and a goose is sitting with her neck streched towards us in a downy nest. The trees are bare except for a blackthorn to the left that is white with blossom. In the foreground there is a tangle of dead blackberry
