The same holds true for several other people and they are all holed up in the diner, waiting for the tanker truck to arrive.   Francis Galluppi’s low budget film entertains and surprises what can be done with a $1,000,000 budget. The cast is uniformly terrific especially Jim Cummings, the ever-menacing Richard Brake and Gene “what’s the most you ever lost on a coin toss” Jones.

This movie was considered lost until 1980 when the great Forrest J. Ackerman found a copy dubbed in Italian. It is - like most lost films - a mix of good quality scenes with poor grainy footage; however, the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that destroys New York City (from 15:00 to 18:00) is a marvel of early cinema. Anna Kendrick’s debut directorial effort is a creepy examination of murder and misogyny. It is also absolutely terrific.   Kendrick plays Cheryl Bradshaw an unlucky actress who scores a gig as a bachelorette on The Dating Game. She is a smart headstrong woman who isn’t very sure of herself, but who shines in the show much to the chagrin of the host Ed Burke ( a thinly veiled Jim Lange).  Daniel Zovatto plays Alcala. He is very sure of himself and in the dating game he is super suave.

letterboxd.comA ★★★★ review of His Three Daughters (2023)Terrific film about three daughters who gather in their dad’s apartment in New York as he slowly dies. As they wait for the inevitable day, the sisters bare all their feelings about each other.   While I am not a big fan of the “feelings” movie and the plot is fairly predictable, I can’t see this movie working any better with other cast members. Natasha Lyonne, Carrie Coon and Elizabeth Olsen all give Oscar-caliber performances, especially Lyonne who, for me, gives a career best performance.  WATCH IT 4/5
