#SCOTUS OKs completion of #MountainValleyPipeline
The pipeline is controversial, & over the past 6 yrs, various lower federal court decisions have interrupted & delayed its construction. In the current round of #litigation, the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals issued an order that temporarily blocked completion of the #pipeline while the court reviewed #ForestService & #BureauOfLandManagement authorizations for the pipeline's completion.

Shortly after the #roundup, the mares were transferred to a #BureauOfLandManagement (#BLM) corral where 28 #foals were born.
Several months later, now weaned from their mothers, every single foal developed chronic colitis (inflammation of the colon). The BLM treated these young #mustangs with an aggressive round of antibiotics, the severity of which overwhelmed their fragile bodies. Selena was one of the survivors.

"It's hard to sit through a #BureauOfLandManagement (#BLM) #WildHorse and #Burro Advisory Board meeting for a variety of reasons, but when it comes to the discussions on the Adoption Incentive Program (#AIP), it becomes almost unbearable.

The #SanPedroRiparianNCA deserves better than to be used as a nasty cow pasture. This is a biodiversity hotspot, an important flyway, a ribbon of green in a sere landscape. #BureauofLandManagement needs to get its act together or we'll have to sue... again.... and again.... and again....
This is the #BabocomariRiver in southern Arizona on the #SanPedroRiparianNCA, managed by the #BureauofLandManagement for, apparently, livestock.
The enabling legislation says "CONSERVE, PROTECT, ENHANCE" which the Bureau has interpreted to mean "Cattle, Poop, and Entitlement." New decision today allows livestock grazing to continue in these 'protected' lands.
An op-ed by our Policy Director and Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER):
"These loopholes are being exploited by the energy industry and local BLM managers to the detriment of the sage grouse and the fragile sagebrush habitat they depend on."

Houston, we have a problem... So much for #WaterIsLife. The #BureauofLandManagement thinks water is for mining, even at the super important biological hotspot #SanPedroRiver. To be fair, they maybe think water is important for miners to drink too.
The editorial continues:
“As BLM director from 1993-94, I got a first-hand look at how the chickens rule the roost, with industry having an outsized voice in how #public lands were managed. Fair and balanced it was not. In the intervening 30 years the BLM has suffered from underfunding, a significant brain drain as dedicated staff left or retired, and an aggressive attempt to leave it wounded beyond repair, all of which culminated in an aborted attempt to move BLM’s headquarters to Grand Junction, Colorado.
Fortunately for us, President #Biden appointed New Mexico’s own Deb Haaland to run the Interior Department and a skilled and dedicated Montanan, Tracy Stone-Manning, to bring BLM back from the brink. Together, they’re working to rebuild BLM from the ground up, and I strongly commend them for that work.
But some things are harder to fix than others, and for BLM it can be easy to fall back into its old habit of promoting #development over #conservation.”
Why should #Scotland reintroduce more beavers?
“Beavers, meanwhile, can be key allies in tackling the nature and #climate emergencies. They create nature-rich #wetlands that benefit a remarkable cascade of #species, while reducing #flooding, improving #water quality and soaking up carbon dioxide. The presence of beavers can also benefit local economies through #ecotourism.”
So could 2023 be the year that we see #beavers being reintroduced widely across #Scotland? For that to happen, Scotland’s Government bodies, which between them manage 10% of the country’s land, need to step up.”
Yes, public lands are a great place to start! Are you listening, #bureauoflandmanagement #nationalparkservice #usforestservice ?
The #BureauofLandManagement issued a trespass notice to a #mining company. What next? Flying pigs?
