Well would you look at that. Seems like #signal is used to plan all kinds of things these days. #ButHerEmails
As a reminder: US Presidents have had access to specially-made, extremely secure electronic communications devices. Obama famously carried around this “Blackberry-like” PDA that was specially constructed by General Dynamics and specified by the NSA.
The downside is that these devices are much more cumbersome to set up and use, and don’t run on the latest consumer hardware. The fact that it’s hard to add random people to a conversation is supposed to be a feature, but it makes life hard for people who want to have a casual conversation.
There is nothing wrong with Signal, but it is not designed for the level of authentication and security (not to mention record-keeping obligations) of POTUS and military agencies.
