Shortly after that, the site was changed to say tickets are "currently not available." Billy McFarland, who went to prison for wire fraud and other crimes related to the first Fyre Festival in 2017, had claimed he was working with officials in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico to get permits, but the officials said there was no record of the event. Flipboard Culture Desk<p>We're not sure any fediverse folks have splashed the cash on Fyre Festival 2 tickets (did you also try and buy Graceland from that woman in Missouri?). But just in case you were tempted, the tourist board in the location where it's supposed to take place in Mexico says it "does not exist." Edgar Gasca, from the tourism directorate of Isla Mujeres, said, “We have no knowledge of this event, nor contact with any person or company about it." The event is supposedly happening from May 30-June 2. Tickets went on sale last week priced from $1,400 — still with no confirmed musical performers or details on what will be happening. You'll pay between $1,400 and $1.1 million for a ticket, and in exchange you'll get ... no one really knows. The Fyre Festival site promises arts, cuisine, music, comedy, fashion, gaming, sports and "treasures," but no musical artists have yet committed to performing at the three-day event. Organizer Billy McFarland was jailed for four years for defrauding investors of more than $27 million after the first Fyre Festival in 2017. Convicted fraudster Billy McFarland is having another shot. After the utter disaster of Fyre I, then a failed attempt to stage 'Fyre Festival 2' in the Caribbean last year, he's having another punt.

Fyre 2 will be held on a Mexican island starting May 30th. Tickets range from $US1,400 to $1.1 million (!) and so far there's not a single artist listed. Not one.

McFarland was sentenced to six years in jail for fraud after Fyre I.

Fyre Festival II has a vague location and a specific date: A privately owned island off the coast of Mexico, April 25-28 2025. The first iteration of the festival in 2017 was an unmitigated disaster, with attendees paying thousands for no entertainment and cheese sandwiches, and founder Billy McFarland ending up in jail for wire fraud. McFarland told TODAY that he has learned his lesson, for example, by hiring a production company to handle logistics, but refused to confirm who they were, or the exact location of the island. Who will be performing? “We haven’t booked any talent for Fyre II,” he said. “It’s not going to be just music — for example, karate combat. We’re in talks with them to set up a pit to have, like, live fights at Fyre Festival II.” 100 tickets have been sold so far at $500 apiece, and McFarland says other packages will soon go on sale with the max price being $1.1 million.
