I am currently reading The Bodyguard by Katherine Center.

Hannah is tasked with protecting Superstar Jack from his stalker while he visits his sick mom. However, he does not want his sick mom to know that he may be in danger and asks Hannah to pretend to be his girlfriend.

So far, I find this book interesting and very easy to read.

Incidentally I jailbroke my #kindle this week, and I wish I'd done it a decade ago tbh. Not only does #koreader read EPUB natively, but it can access libraries directly over wifi to download books - Standard Ebooks, Project Gutenberg, your local Calibre library...

It's amazing, even if it took a while to get it set up to my liking. The jailbreak is really easy and quick too.

How the Kindle Lost China

Tbh the idea that one is locked in to buying from one store doesn't compute to the Asian mind. We like options. We like the ability to leave and buy from others. So I am not surprised it didn't take off in China, where ebook readers have a more unwalled garden approach, and you can customize it as much as you can.

Recently I broke my Boox Leaf 2 🥲. I was very tempted to buy a Kobo because it was so well built and we'll designed, but I settled with a Boox Go 6 instead because I want the freedom to access multiple stores. It's definitely not as pretty but is 40% cheaper than the Kobo Libra.

So my Go reader now has a library eith DRM free ebooks, Amazon and Google Books. I also have Pleco, which enables me to read Chinese ebooks with ease. I won't sacrifice this freedom, sorry.
