Once a month, a group called the Edinburgh Street Stitchers takes to the streets, inviting people to #stitchitdontditchit.
They mend garments in public and teach passers-by mending skills.
Crafting community and awareness, they embrace the art of visible mending.

Move slow and mend things.

8-9h later (in 3 days) I’m done and satisfied with the patch of the main area.
I still want to go over the peeled-off seams with embroidery floss.
I really like the quilting effect that this cotton sateen has. I will need to think of a quilted jacket idea.

Move slow, mend things. Or treat day for my favorite pair of jeans.
Inner thigh holes are evil and a main reason to wear skirts instead.
I’ll also have to go over the inner thigh seams, but I’ll do that by hand. Later :,)
#makeShitMonday, #mending edition!
Our local caving grotto has a large canopy structure that we use for group camping events - as is common with shared equipment, it tends to be roughly handled, and the soft case that holds the poles and canvas for transport has come apart at the top seam.
It's pretty sturdy fabric, and well-constructed - the corner is joined by one seam, and there's a separate seam holding down some thin rubber tape that keeps the seam allowance from fraying. Fortunately that means the failure is the thread holding the pieces together, not the fabric itself...
It's a bit tedious to fix, since I'm trying to use existing holes rather than introduce new points of weakness. And I'm doing each seam as two lines of alternate running stitches, so if the threads break on one line, the other will hopefully hold it together enough for me to fix it more easily next time.
I got through both lines of the joining seam and one line of the edge-tape seam before I ran out of time (and patience) today. Should go a lot quicker tomorrow since the edges and tape are already lined up, so it'll just be a simple running stitch!

Pues he terminado de cambiar la camisa de manga larga a manga corta con #LaMaquinaDeCoser en un ratillo. Cortar, planchar y coser. #Costura #Sewing #SecondLife #Mending(?)
Yesterday I replaced a zipper in my SO's backpack. I salvaged the zipper from an old footrest thingy that has given up. I could sew most of it with the machine but had to handsewn towards the ends. It's not pretty on the inside but it's looking almost normal on the outside and is fully functional. Much better than having to buy an entirely new backpack!

#Sewing & #Mending friends, I have a #question for you.
I have a top sheet with a ~25cm vertical tear inside the body of the sheet (i.e., it's landlocked).
I want to mend it in a good enough way. I'm **not going to sew it**, make it look pretty, etc. I just want to not stick my foot through it in the night.
Current best option: duct tape (which is probably not ideal).
Is there a fast, easy way to make a non-sewing fix? Like a fabric tape or something? 1/n

Final update of the #hitomezashi #sashiko pattern I was making for this patch pocket. Now the next thing to do is actually making the patch pocket and attaching it.

Got some #mending done today after work; patched up an old swimsuit and used my #darning egg for the first time on a pair of socks. The second pair of socks was too threadbare to darn, so I cut out a piece of scrap fabric roughly the same shape as the sole and whip-stitched it on. It's not pretty, but it's functional. No pictures due to ugliness, but I plan to wear the latter pair of socks tomorrow and I will report back on how they felt/held up
Three pairs of pajamas mended to no longer have a "front door". Thank you to everyone for their suggestions on what stitch to use when I asked for advice here: https://dice.camp/@jendefer/114182340015748088
After reviewing some tutorials, I went with the ladder stitch recommended by @drehumdiebolzen, and it worked beautifully. It's pretty much invisible on the flannel, too.
@bammerlaan@pixey.org @sewing Further process pictures of the thrilling development of this #sashiko patch pocket. Doing this on the train to and from a Groningen concert turned out to be a good activity.
The back of #hitomezashi sashiko is supposed to look as neat as the front, with the excess thread tucked between two layers of fabric. I don't have two layers of fabric, but you'll only see the front, anyway. So
