Want to find out how much those #solar panels will likely generate? pvwatts.nrel.gov/pvwatts.php has a handy calculator. It takes details of the panels, their angle, direction and location. It integrates that with historical weather reports, and gives you a spreadsheet with a daily estimate of how many kWh you can expect on average for each day of the year.

It allows homeowners, small building owners, installers and manufacturers to easily develop estimates of the performance of potential PV installations

I have posted our Solar Generation and Export numbers for January

I have also started a new page. This post shows the generation over the years.

As panels decline over time, I thought it might be interesting to track. Of course the weather will come into it.

Too geeky for my own goodSolar Generation Year On Year Comparison — Too geeky for my own goodSolar panel performance declines over the years. I thought it might be interesting to see how mine compares. Of course weather comes into it, but hopefully this will be a useful guide.

Ok, so a family member loudly declared that solar from the roof is not used in the house, its all exported and then you import all your power.
Context: Australia.
Can anyone provide official references that confirms or denies this?
‘Cause we generate 100 times what we export (according to device data) so that sounds wrong (but i didn’t think of the disparity until they had left)
