RANT: Yet another reason why I'll never buy a new car in my life
- I had a rental (#Peugeot2008) which is one of these garbage *"#Crossover" / #SuperUselessVehicles* that are *PHAT* outside but crammed af inside due to a needlessly *W I D E* center console and barely adjustable driver seat and steering wheel.
- This car is basically impossible to reverse without staring at it's backup camera as it has a giant-ass deadzone behind it.
- It's shitty front allows children to hide even easier than the rear and makes parking even more stressful
But what made my blood boil is the obnoxiousness with which it's shitty tablet decided to randomly (!), whilst driving >50km/h to just pop up a demand for #tracking bs, offering only "allow" and "later" instead of a "no thanks" / "don't ask me again" option.
- Shit like this can literally *kill* people as they fiddle around trying to dismiss it.
- I had it pop up 2x (!) within 5 mins (!!) on the same (!!!) trip [not pulling ignition key!] And at the 2nd time decided to pull over to document this shit.
This kind of #Enshittification in the form of a #Car comitting an *"Exhaustion Attack"* against it's *own driver* needs to be outlawed, not mandated!

@ErictheCerise I think even being willing to bid on it plays in the hands of the billionaires. We have to migrate to OSS en masse, that's the only realistic option I see: a culture shift and mass migration away from US centrally controlled #enshittified subscription tech.

A@Setok @tuomas_h It was better in the early days of Android, but now it is #enshittified too.
What we really need is #LinuxPhone or #SailFish or other #OpenSource phone OS.
I really need to spend more time investigating, but it's a rabbit hole I really don't have time for right now.

@jon switching away from big tech is a long process for me. Switching web browser was easy. I ditched facebook, messenger and twitter years ago, when those services became #enshittified beyond a threshold acceptable to me.
I left WhatsApp (last meta service) weeks ago. This was hard. I've been using Signal for years, but most of my family and friends still don't.
Leaving Google is a project by itself. My private and professional life got very entangled with it. But I'm nearly there! :)

I am on the verge of buying an e-ink screen for an #esp32 board and start a vendetta against #garmin by making a foretrex of my own that will be used as an #aprs/lora and whatnot terminal besides navigation.
While #foretrex is still the least #enshittified device Garmin makes, it having bluetooth and can do crap with it drives me crazy. My radio, my gps, my pc have BT and non can talk to each other.
What do you think?

I find it hard to explain to my #Swedish friends why #IKEA has #enshittified furniture in general.
They set the #market precedent that has now had an effect on the entire #furniture #industry as a whole, invariably ensuring we throw away and buy furniture at a much faster rate than ever before.

@pluralistic Maybe the collective action problem gets easier in small increments. Like intermittent fasting, but for toxic and #enshittified social media platforms.
I'm deleting all Meta platforms for at least a week. And I'm looking forward to the attention span I get back from just focusing on the Fediverse and real life.
