@RickiTarr Glad to hear that they are no longer together. From what you wrote he was not just a narcissist but an abuser. Abusive partners break down their partners emotionally and mentally in order to control them. Sometimes it can end in rape or even murder.
If you want to depress yourself look for youtube videos by Lundy Bancroft a psychiatrist who works with abusive men trying to understand and help them.
#DomesticAbuse #MentalAbuse

I've just had a work meeting where I chose to have one of the hardest conversations of my life. I disclosed being a #DomesticAbuse survivor. Survivor's guilt. The impossible-to-displace belief that it was my fault, that I enabled it. Irrational, illogical, clearly untrue, but this is what a controlling & coercive abuser does. They gaslight and erode you until they've destroyed you. He's long dead but is still controlling me now. I'll never heal from this. I'm mentally damaged for life.

I just rediscovered two old posts/threads of mine, that explain pretty well, why I want to go into pedagogy now (I didn't know it back then - too busy working on my depression and hating school):

I want to protect children.
I want to provide them a save environment to thrive and talk about their troubles.
In a perfect school system kids would learn mental hygiene and get therapy before they learn integrals and the uncritical history of wars and power abuse. That would prevent so much domestic abuse, because it would be caught early.
And teaching kids emotional and social competence before teaching them applied capitalism will prevent abuse, division, exploitation and hate in the future.

I want to teach children to be happier than me, less abusive than my stepdad, more empathetic than my mom and more protective of future generations than my teachers were.

That's why I'm studying animal assisted pedagogy and will start studying social pedagogy, trauma pedagogy and environmental pedagogy this fall.

#DomesticAbuse traps victims in cycles of fear—often because leaving means financial ruin.

#UniversalBasicIncome (#UBI) changes that, giving victims agency without bureaucratic hurdles.

No approvals, no means-testing—just freedom to leave NOW.
No more choosing between abuse and homelessness. UBI covers a bus ticket, a security deposit, food while rebuilding.

It won’t solve everything, but it’s a lifeline when every second counts. ❤️

How can such an organization call themselves a charity? How can anyone trust them to help any human subjected to domestic abuse? They clearly showed they don't give a crap.

I wish I had a heart of stone too, it seems the life would have been easier and less painful.

"In 2019, Refuge reported that 72% of women accessing its services said they had been subjected to “technology-facilitated abuse”, and warned that the growing use of camera doorbells and smart speakers can provide perpetrators with more tools to harm victims. They’re an effective method of coercive control, for monitoring, spying and withholding power."

The Superbowl Tradition Continues! I hope you'll join me.

A reminder that #DomesticAbuse often increases after big games like the #SuperBowl.

A few years back I joined a tradition of donating to an organization dedicated to protecting partners from abuse in the losing city.

This year I'm again donating $10 per point of the winning team to an organization in the losing team's city.

I'd love for you to join me with any amount. Who's in? Post below and we'll post receipts after.

Nigerian guitarist, Fiokee loses sister to domestic abuse: Condolences have been shared for Nigerian guitarist, Fiokee, after the heartbreaking news of his sister’s death due to domestic abuse. Whilst I'm glad #coercivecontrol is being recognised for the #seriousharm it causes, this article is somewhat misleading (or the media have been briefed incorrectly). Any serious harm risks (including coercive control) are already shared with other agencies by the #Probationservice, this is not something new. It is disingenuous to infer otherwise.
