A superb Small Copper at Brandon Marsh, at the end of last month. My sightings of this species are much less frequent than I'd like, and always so fleeting as they don't seem to hang about in one place for very long before flying off at speed!
Today at the Saturday marketplace I run in my hometown, a vendor was selling native plants. I bought a New York Aster from her and walked about 50 yards to the building where my office is located. In that time, this happened.

After a complete #washout of a #weekend the rain has finally stopped but the sun isn’t really to appear just yet.
Despite that, there were plenty of #butterflies out on the #reserve at #WWTCastleEspie this morning.

Featuring a small copper butterfly on a calendula flower, a magpie sitting on a fence, a cabbage butterfly drinking some wild mustard nectar and a violet carpenter bee showing off its shiny colors.
