Yesterday was the first day we generated more solar than we imported from the grid in 2025.

March has been quite remarkable for solar generation so far. Long may it continue. We are going to be very close to breaking even today.

As panels decline over time, I thought it might be interesting to track. Of course the weather will come into it.

Yeah, about time. Some solar covering the whole of the house requirements. Export maybe, I doubt it.

Damn it. The battery went flat before the £1 Agile Octopus slots kicked in. I missed the mid afternoon slot to do a top up. It would have been expensive, but cheaper than it is now. The £1 slots end at 7.30pm

First time the battery has been flat this early for a while.

The heat pump has been on all day.

Looks like I'm going to have to update some of my automations at some point....
Octopus are changing their Outgoing rate to a variable tariff.

It looks like Agile is being predicted to be low tonight, but I don't think I will have any battery to export.

Our first month with the heat pump heating the house

Last year our bill for November was

Gas - £61.23
Electricity - £69.48

This year

Gas £10.47 (£8.67 standing charge)
Electricity - £133.96

It is more expensive by £13.72. If we could disconnect the gas it would only be £5. ,This is just a cost comparison. I am not going to go back and work out the cost and take into account the price changes. I believe gas and electricity are more expensive than last year.

Enough spare battery to discharge tonight. I will be discharging until 10pm until when the cheaper Agile slots start.

The battery is flat for the first time before midnight due to house use and not a forced discharge.

Finally some sunshine. Hopefully this will keep the battery topped up for most of the day. Recently we have used or almost used most of our 19kWh of battery storage.

This has coincided with Agile Octopus rates being high.
