Today, some will agree with Thompson on warning poor, but also warn those who warn about ostentation.

I wonder if..
..tagging online, and for that matter offline content to indicate support for '#woke' ideals, you know, evil things like equality, anti-fascism, diversity, abortion access and especially #trans rights..
..would help in various ways, other than just the declaration of support. Such as:
- self censorship by bigots and their lackies depriving them of access to the value we create
- reduced scraping and appropriation (eg for #LLM)
- making it harder to spot and censor #wokeness

The thing is, fascism is always there, it’s a feature not a bug.
When you remove respect for the weak and the oppressed, equanimity, egalitarianism & diversity, what you have left is it.
And you certainly don't want to be represented by someone implying that you and your fellow citizens have become so corrupt and malevolent that you'd rather vote for a criminal who's been indicted for multiple serious felonies than for a person who cares for minorities and think that they should have the same rights as you have. Because, seriously, that is Smith's main argument against so-called #wokeness and why they are responsible for the Democrats' defeat in the last elections.
